Today Wal-Mart CEO apologized for October Sales. Lee Scott stated that the company isn’t ‘comfortable’ with 1% sales increase (sales at stores open for at-least a year) for the month of October. Wal-Mart forecast called for sales to increase between 2 to 4 percent.

Scott went on to say “while it was reasonable to expect that the subsequent retreat in gas prices would help to boost sales, that has not yet happened at Wal-Mart”….

I am not sure I would just totally depend on a retreat in gas prices to drive customers through the door. Do you think Wal Mart should focus on other aspects of the business to get customers back? or will the decline in fuel prices bring the customers back and lead to an increase in sales?
